The Boathouse Cottage in Bucks Mills

A perfect romantic coastal retreat
Stay in a tiny house full of character and history, perched close to the beach in a traditional Devon fishing village setting. A peaceful dog-friendly escape from busy seaside resorts for couples or small families, The Boathouse in Bucks Mills is the ideal base for walking the South West Coast Path in North Devon.
Our
cottage

The cottage is cosy with log stove, antique furnishings books and original art. The rug is well worn, the king sized bed upstairs made up with comfortable new Otty mattress and Egyptian cotton linens. Two bunks are built over the stairs which will sleep 2 children over age 7, or an adult. If you like modern, fresh decor and a neutral atmosphere this place is not for you!
The cottage has been a much loved family bolt hole and the contents reflect this personality. The staircase is steep, and the shower room is downstairs. It's a refuge from the busy world, a place to kick back, relax and paint, walk, write, play the guitar, a board game, hang out with your dog, read or do absolutely nothing!

Location
Conveniently located on the South West Coast Path between Westward Ho! and Clovelly, Bucks Mills is in a hidden valley surrounded by ancient woodlands and rushing streams. Whilst the cottage does not have a direct view of the sea, the beach is just down the footpath below The Boathouse, and at low tide there's a stretch of unbroken sand for easy swimming and kayaking and giving the dog a run about. The beach is a wonderful place for rockpools, shrimping and fishing and if you're lucky you'll spot a seal or dolphins in the bay. At night time because there's so little light pollution there's magical stargazing and with luck you might even see the Northern Lights!
